Measure Up: Selling by Volume & Liquids
Back to Inventory Management1. Open the Item Details
- In the sidebar, click Items → Item List.
- Select the product you want to sell by measure (e.g. “Wine Bottle”).
2. Choose Your Selling Approach
Scroll to the Sold by section and pick one of two methods:
- Weight/Volume – Sell each unit by a precise metric amount (grams, milliliters, meters).
- Composite item – Define a serving size as a small bundle of your base unit (e.g. a glass from a bottle).
3. Configure Details for Each Method
A. Weight/Volume Mode
- Sold by: Weight/Volume
- Metric: Select from Gram, Kilo, Milliliter, Liter, Millimeter, or Meter.
- Quantity per unit: Set the full unit size (e.g. 750 ml for a standard wine bottle).
- On POS: Set the sold amount (e.g. 150ml per glass)
B. Composite-Item Mode
- Toggle Composite item under Inventory.
- Under Composed from other items, add your base unit (e.g. Red Wine Bottle).
- Enter Quantity as a fraction (e.g. 0.2 for 150 ml of a 750 ml bottle).
4. Set Shop-Specific Pricing
- Under Stores details, check each location offering this item.
- Enter a Price (per sale unit or per bundle) for each store; leave blank to dynamically setting the price.
5. Save & Test in POS
- Click Save (or Update).
- In POS (Optional):
- Weight/Volume mode prompts for the quantity (e.g. “150 ml”).
- Composite mode lists your defined bundle (e.g. “Glass of Red Wine”).
